To celebrate and promote the re-opening of businesses in August 2020, after the relaxation of Covid-19 guidance, the Haslemere Town Council / Chamber of Trade and Commerce sponsored an event to welcome customers back to the High Street. Retailers were invited to participate with a 1940's themed Best-dressed Window Competition.
The town was alive with the Town Crier rallying visitors to market stalls and shops, a Treasure Hunt through the town and the Mayor's drive-by in a 1940's vintage jeep. In commemoration of the 75th anniversary of VJ Day, a short ceremony was held on the High Street green.
Amazing Grace's ladies had a fun day planning the window displays and finding 1940's luxury lingerie and swimwear pieces - very different from the flowing dresses of the day with the windows bringing wry smiles to passers-by. A long way from today's lovely lace and embroidery!
A great day - bringing life back to our High Street!!!!!!!
